Caligra Version 1.09 Released
Jan 12, 2007, at 10:11 AM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra Version 1.09 has been released:
  • Too many updates and corrections to even mention.
  • Corrected Quick Topics area for speed and efficiency.
  • Corrected User Defined Pages and Codes to prevent scrolling inside grid layout to fix a bug wherein data would be overwritten by other codes.
  • Numerous tweaks and fixes in the Publisher.
  • Corrected the size and position of text captions on the Topics Page.
  • Changed the variable ($TOTAL_TOPICS) to reflect TOPICS not TOTAL POSTS.
  • Added variable ($TOTAL_POSTS) to reflect TOTAL POSTS.
  • Removed the “themes.ini” file from the Caligra Installer. It is not nor has it ever been used. The “themedir” in the Caligra.ini file lists where the themes are stored.
  • Corrected a problem on the Main Form that did not scroll buttons when every window item was open.
  • News Items may now have their Topics changed in the News Database Area simply by right-clicking and selecting “Change Topic”. Topic dropdown remembers last topic and will position itself there. Pressing ESC or hitting the cancel button cancels the action.
  • Adjusted the size and positions of windows in the News Database form. Should make it easier to work.
  • Added New Publish : Publish Single Topic - You can now publish just one individual topic from a drop down list of available topics. Available as a click menu or a button.
  • Right-Click “Open Topic In Browser” added to the Database Management Form. Now you can right click and view said topic in your browser choice. Available as a click menu or a button.
  • Added “FTP IMAGE” to the Topics Form. Now when you add new images to your site for topics and add the image locally, you can FTP it automatically to your FTP site.
  • Fixed the Topics Form. You can now one-key-press to go to a particular topic.
  • Fixed the Data on the Topics Form to be correct, now if move in the Topic Grid the text is updated correctly.
  • Added ability to rename Topics. This will rename the topic and change all news database items to match the topic.
  • Eliminated the MENU.DB and the configuration layout for the MENU. This was a carry-over from the old system and is no longer needed. Everyone has some kind of menu and it is now suggested that you use a RIGHT or a LEFT block and position that BLOCK appropriately for your menu. If you want to have a menu outside the scope of a block, create a USER DEFINED or THEME DEFINED code, place your menu in it, and then place that code in your PAGE_LAYOUT, SECTION_LAYOUT, TOPIC_LAYOUT, FILE_LAYOUT and other layout areas. I apologize for any inconveniences but the MENU had both layout AND menu in it and did not work properly.
  • Added Viewable Areas to the BLOCKS. Now you can prevent particular blocks from showing in different sections of your website.
  • Added IsActive to the BLOCKS. Now you can turn blocks on or off if you don't want them viewed.
  • Added FTP IMAGE to the FTP Menu allowing you to FTP a particular image from your local drive to your website IMAGE directory.
  • Fixed CANCEL button on the Current News Form. Now if you press CANCEL and then click NO, it will remain in edit mode. Previously it would save.
  • Added Preference Toggle for “Require Original Author”. If checked, Current News Items cannot be saved if the Original Author is left blank.
  • Added $LINK_GUID variable in the NEWS ITEM LAYOUT. This is used with an (a href=”#($LINK_GUID)”)LINK(/a) to allow you to paste the actual PUBLISH GUID into an article.
  • Removed internal variable ($CURRENT_NEWS) and replaced it with ($BLOG_ITEMS). BLOG_ITEMS can now be used in either PAGE LAYOUT or in BLOCKS.
  • Fixed bug in News Database Form where Moved Items were not moving the Original Author and Original Author Email.
  • Added CANCEL and OK buttons to the Quick Topic Change Form.
  • News Database Form now performs an EM_SCROLL on the News Memo.
  • News Database Form now saves all options in the layout.ini file, including toggles, form size and field size.
  • Added Toggles to News Database Form for easy view of Database GRID Items
  • Fixed the Configuration Forms so that Right Click will select the NODE of the code you are on.
  • Added Toggle in preferences to allow DATE to be displayed on ($BLOG_ITEMS) for Archived Topics.
  • Separated the datasets in Topics from News Database.
  • Fixed a bug in the ATOM and RSS feeds where it was displaying less than the number of articles per day.
  • Style sheet now allows use of all ($) codes.

Caligra v1.08 Has Been Released
Dec 9, 2005, at 09:30 AM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v1.08 has been released:
  • Changed FTP Client to "PASSIVE" Mode and added error dialog.
  • Added “OriginalAuthor” and “OriginalAuthorEmail” to the NEWS table. In addition, added {ORIGINAL_AUTHOR} and {ORIGINAL_AUTHOR_EMAIL} to the publisher for news items. This was done for culling messages or articles from sites where you do not post links back. You can then give credit for original posts.
  • Changed the Current News Form to make sure the dataset was not in Insert or Edit mode when bringing up news for the first time (ie. You run Caligra, open the news and thinks you have modified the data)
  • Modified the Files and File Categories screens to be on tabbed pages. After using this section for the last six months I decided there was just not enough room. They are now on tabbed pages separate from each other. This should make it easier to update and add files to your site.
  • Fixed the Preferences area. Now when you click a preference area the highlighting and back panel is now correct.
  • Increased the size of the HTML Editor from 65535 to 50000000 bytes.
  • Fixed the SAVE Button in Topics - if you do not have a topic name you cannot save.
  • Added Documentation for several areas of Caligra.
  • Modified the Select / Create Database Screen. Did not change any functionality, just fixed the screen and made it properly sizeable. Eventually I will be modifying this section to better show current databases and the proper manipulation of databases. For now this section works.
  • Increased the size and font size of the Subject Line in the Current News.
  • Added the Sectional Name to the {PAGE_TITLE} section of the HEADER. This way Sectional Pages will be titled with your website name followed by the name of your Sectional. This aids in searches such as on GOOGLE by finding the actual page name rather than text found within the page. This increases GOOGLE hits.
  • You can no longer save blank Sectionals.
  • Moved the HTML Editor menu items to the front of the menu. Makes them easier to use.
  • Changed colors of primary screen and menu screen.
  • Updated fonts in certain areas of inherited forms.
  • Changed menu pattern around to be “prettier” so it doesn't look like a squished groupbox.
  • Fixed the File Categories and Files page to align fields properly.

Caligra V1.07 Has Been Released
Oct 21, 2005, at 10:53 AM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v1.07 has been released:
  • Caligra is no longer BETA.
  • Added (OL) and (UL) ordered and un-ordered lists to the HTML Editor.
  • Added a new News Layout database field "NewsDateLayout". Caligra was using the field "TopicHeaderLayout" as the NewsDateLayout. This was a carry-over from when Caligra was created four years ago. It never was right. You must now go and add a NewsDateLayout in order for your {HEADER} to work appropriately. TopicHeaderLayout now allows to add a the variable {TOPIC_HEADER} to your Page Layout. TopicHeaderLayout will only display in the Page Layout when topics are being created. Thanks Huey, a very nice addition.
  • Added {QUICK_TOPIC} to the list of variables for your layouts. Wherever {QUICK_TOPIC} is found, it will run through the Topics using the QUICK TOPIC LAYOUT section. This way you can put a (OL) {QUICK_TOPIC} (/OL) in your menu, and (LI) (A href="{TOPIC_URL}") {$TOPIC_NAME} (/A) (/LI) in your QUICK TOPIC LAYOUT and you will get a bulleted list of available topics.
  • Added {QUICK_SECTION} to the list of variables for your layouts. Same as {QUICK_TOPIC}.
  • Fixed a bug in the User Pages. No items in the database - Press Delete - Error.
  • Fixed a bug in getting the image directory for Current News.
  • Added RSS 2.0 XML Feed to Caligra. It is only available for the main page.
  • Added HTML URL formatting (same as Quick URL Form) to the HTML Editor. Now you can right-click and format urls off highlighted text in the HTML editor.
  • Added ATOM 0.3 XML Feed to Caligra. This is not perfect yet since news items can be so dynamic and XML is so staunch.
  • Minor modifications to HTML items in the HTML Editor portion.

Caligra v.106 [Beta] has been released
Apr 14, 2005, at 02:09 PM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v.106 [Beta] has been released:
  • Fixed a nasty bug in the News Database and Current News forms. Neither were properly synched up correctly. Now when you select or double-click an item in the News Database area, you will be taken to the appropriate item in the Current News form. If you have an open-edit (ie. Non-saved item) in the Current News form, you will have to save it first.
  • Fixed a bug in the quick-blogger mode. The value for the blogging mode was being saved in the LAYOUT rather than the SETTINGS. It was being read from SETTINGS.
  • Changed (ALPHA) to (BETA) in the version. Thanks Huey. Caligra hasn't been ALPHA since January 1st, 2005.
  • Fixed the quick-blogger mode top, left, height and width. They are now appropriately saved in the SETTINGS.
  • Added more functionality to quick-blogger mode. Corrected "Full Mode" vs "Quick Blogger Mode" menu items and enabled settings.
  • Fixed a bug in the Help ~ Updates section. Now if it can't find the Updates.rtf file, it displays a friendly error and then gives you the chance to find the said file or cancel.
  • Fixed a bug in changing databases. If you had the File Categories or Files form(s) open and changed databases, the forms would not close properly thus caused an access violation.
  • Totally re-wrote the Files and File Categories sections. The file categories form worked fine but the files form did not. I was never happy with either of them. Therefore, I eliminated both forms and started over. Now the categories and files are contained in the same form, making things much easier to work with.
  • Shrunk the size of the Menu Bar down a little smaller to allow more room on the screen for users using 1024x768 but added a slider to allow the user to set where they want it to be.
  • Shrunk the size of the HTML Editor to allow more room on the screen for users using 1024x768.
  • Added a new preference for the formatting of file output format. You can now specify your own formatting of file size properties. The types of formatting codes will be added to the help system eventually.
  • Changed a few items around in the preferences and added hints to all the file locations.
  • There are two known major bugs. TOPICS and FILES. If you rename a topic, the underlying topics in the news table do not get changed. This is the same with FILE CATEGORIES, the underlying files in the files table do not get changed. I have a CR for this and it will be fixed in the future. For now, I have disabled deleting topics and file categories or editing the names of topics and file categories.

Apr 8, 2005, at 12:04 PM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v.105 [Beta] has been released:
  • Fixed a bug in publishing both news and topics. The last topic in the list was not printing correctly and if the last topic was used on the news page, the image would be missing. Both are now fixed.
  • Added Quick Blogger Mode! Caligra can now be put into a quick blogging mode. Caligra hides and lives on your taskbar. With a click of the Caligra icon you can add News Items and Quick Topics. You can also Publish anything and FTP anything. Makes blogging a snap.
  • Added an index to the Topics table to force it to sort properly.
  • Fixed a bug in the FTP unit. If you answered "NO" to not doing an FTP transfer, you would get an access violation and have to quit Caligra in order to work again.
  • Removed the Open Picture Dialog on the Quick Topics, Topics and Alternate Images. The Delphi component for Open Picture did not support .GIF.

Caligra v.104 [Beta] has been released
Feb 19, 2005, at 08:37 AM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v.104 [Beta] has been released:
  • Added the ability to right click and add codes to a form from the Layout Forms. Ron.
  • User Defined Pages Complete. This allows you to create your own user defined pages, but use all of the codes from Caligra including Header, Footer, Menu, Blocks, Theme Codes, User Codes and Color Codes. Note the main page on www.caligra.com was created by a User Defined Page.
  • Added a “< br >< br > to all blank lines” in the HTML Editor.
  • Fixed some minor visual aspects of certain screens.
  • Fixed a “SORT BY” in the Topics area where it was not sorting by TopicNameShow.
  • Fixed a bug in the Quick URL where “Target = TOP” was not being returned when you clicked “Continue Reading Story” button.
  • Fixed a bug in Topics. If you made changes to a topic then cancelled it, the database pointer would move to the first record and the text would remain the same. Also fixed the
  • display grid so it displays only the current topics, not the entire database.
  • Added more items to the HTML Editor HTML Sub Menu.
  • Modifications to the Database Editor screen adding a splitter so the SQL/Topic window can be resized. Users complained there was not enough space to do real good SQL strings. Fixed!

Caligra v.103 [Beta] has been released:
Jan 29, 2005, at 12:14 PM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v.103 [Beta] has been released:
  • Re-structured the PUBLISHER aspect of Caligra. Before, the Publisher was interacting with the main database section and using the working database tables to do all of the publishing work. This caused problems with sequences being out of line everywhere a window was open. This section has now been fully re-designed so it uses it's own queries and tables not directly linked to any actual passed dataset on forms. I have been meaning to do this for the last year.
  • Fixed a Move Up/Down bug in the News Database Screen. The news BLOB was not moving properly when the news item was moved up and down, in fact, it wasn't moved at all thus causing the news BLOB item to be deleted.
  • CODE button is now disabled when publishing or using the FTP.
  • Changed some values on the Percent Form.
  • Changed the Topics form to allow moving up and down in the Topic list. If you are editing a topic and suddenly move up or down the list, your changes will be saved and the new record will be displayed.
  • Fixed the Sectionals "WRITE" button. It was always writing the first section on the list regardless of which record you were on.
  • Moved the "WRITE" button on the Sectionals form to the right as to not confuse it with the form.
  • Put a status message up when writing a Sectional. Those on fast machines not networked with the database will find it pretty much instantaneous.
  • Updated FTP transfer system to interact with the same queries that the Publisher unit uses.
  • Added TABS to HTML edit screens per request. Right now they are just tabs. In time I will change this to a preference so that tabs are either real "tabs" or are defined spaces.
  • Fixed a bug in the publisher under file categories and files where if you had no records, occasionally users were seeing an error. Thanks Ron.
  • Added HTML Color Coding to the HTML Editor. Ron was sitting next to me and mentioned it would be a good idea, and it was! Thanks Ron.
  • Fixed some rendering issues with the HTML Renderer.
  • Fixed "Target = TOP" CheckBox on the UrlEditForm. Now if you turn the Target TOP off, it will not insert a target="top" into your returned URL.
  • Set the Quick URL to allow user to define the "Continue Reading Story" button. This is now set in user preferences to allow you to set it to whatever you want.
  • Re-designed Preferences to make it easier to find preferences you are looking for. This will improve more over time.
  • Quick URL now saves the "Target = Top" in the layout.ini file as a toggle.
  • Totally redesigned the FIND and FIND/REPLACE section of the HTML Editor.
  • Replaced the standard OpenDialog on the Topics form with an OpenPictureDialog. Now you can see the pictures you are trying to open.
  • Fixed the Tab Positions in the Sections Form.

Caligra .102 Released
Jan 17, 2005, at 12:05 PM     -LINK-

TOP
Caligra v.102 [Beta] has been released:
  • Fixed the HTML Edit form cleaning up the clip board box. Now the objects are aligned correctly and do not go off the screen.
  • Fixed a bug in the Blocks section where moving a record UP and DOWN would cause it to jump by two in either direction if the Block was at or near the bottom or top. Anywhere else an item could be moved was using the same code therefore all sections were fixed, including: Blocks, Emails, File Categories, Files and News Database.

Caligra Version .101 has been released:
  • Added counter section to Database Update to show Table Creation And Structure Verification. Before this section could take as long as 10-15 seconds and the user wouldn't know what was happening.
  • Moved Database option menu to sub-menu. Will include a complete database repair utility as time progresses. I'm really getting sick of that Blob Has Been Modified error. Bites my ass.
  • Modified FILES screen to automatically pick up version, date and size of files. Before this was all manual and as I used it for Caligra.COM it was driving me freaking nutts.
